Ukraine U-16 Rugby Sevens Team Wins Plate Cup at Junior 7s Lisbon 🏆

The Ukraine U-16 Rugby Sevens national team delivered a strong performance at the international Junior 7s Lisbon tournament in Portugal, winning the Plate Cup and demonstrating a high level of preparation and team spirit.

The team arrived highly motivated with a clear goal — to compete for top positions. The tournament became an important benchmark ahead of the squad’s strategic objectives for the coming years.

Over the course of the competition, Ukraine played six matches, securing five victories and suffering only one defeat — in the third match of day one against the host nation. The team missed the top 8 by just 15 points, while the opponent they lost to eventually reached the final.

In the very first match, the squad lost a player due to health issues and effectively continued the tournament with only 11 players. Reduced rotation meant increased workload, yet the team endured and showed true character.

After video analysis and tactical adjustments, Ukraine played three matches on the second day, conceding only one try. Scrums and lineouts were won in approximately 90% of situations — a показатель of discipline, preparation, and unity.
